Consisting of two letters addressed to N.E[lizabeth?] "Lizzie" Craig re local and family news. Letter, 9 Jan. 1854, from cousin J.T. Craig, Tylersville (Laurens County, S.C.), re news of his medical practice, including a post mortem examination conducted on an African-American slave killed while attacking his master. Letter, 17 Apr. 1854, from "Eliza," Huntington (Anderson County, S.C.), re a visit to a mountain [probably Stump House Mountain], where a tunnel was being dug for the Blue Ridge Railroad, and noting talk of withholding wages to erect a hospital and fund a doctor and nurse.
